The intuitive design of the Radiance 330 harnesses the most advanced technology with a more intuitive and user-friendly interface. Experienced users of a variety of proton therapy systems were consulted in the design of the control system. ProTom used that empirical information to integrate workflow guidance into the operator controls, enabling radiation therapists to spend less time interacting with the equipment and more time focusing on the patient.

Outside the treatment room, the Treatment Delivery Control System screen provides the radiation therapist with a single-screen view of all required patient information.  Positioning of the patient, gantry rotation, and imaging can be controlled safely from outside the treatment room using pre-programmed workflow routines.

Workflow guidance is integrated into the design that utilizes modular, discrete subsystems – giving staff a single-screen workflow-driven view of all required patient information including plan information, treatment fields, room coordinates, digitally reconstructed radiographs, beam status, and a “beam-on” dose monitor.  There is no need for separate accelerator control personnel.  In the photo, ProTom service engineers monitor system operation and performance.

As the different functions on the touch-screen are selected, the therapist is guided through the workflow of treating a patient. Customizable, pre-programmed movements for both imaging and treatment workflows are supported. Additionally, multiple pre-programmed automated sequences can be saved for clinical use, for physics quality assurance checks, and for preventive maintenance routines.
