McLaren Proton Therapy Center

  • Breaking Ground of the MPTC

  • MPTC construction
    March 2011
  • MPTC construction, with Proton Therapy Center connected to previously existing McLaren Cancer Institute.
    May 2011
  • MPTC ready for Building Occupancy and ProTom installation to begin.
    September 2011
  • Radiance 330® Synchrotron Installation begins.
    September 2011
  • Radiance 330® accelerator installed and generating proton beam.
    October 2011
  • Proton beams up to 325 MeV generated from Radiance 330®. Performance specifications and background radiation levels meet requirements.
    November 2011
  • Beam Transport and Switching System installed to direct proton beam into each of 3 treatment rooms.
    November 2011
  • New hope for cancer patients in Flint. Andy Lee, MD of MDACC Proton Therapy Center teaching seminar to referring physicians in Michigan.
    December 2011
  • First Treatment Room Gantry installation at MPTC commenced.
    January 2012
  • Final testing of the Radiance 330® for 510(k) clearance begins.
    January 2012
  • Radiance 330® is upgraded with the RFQ linear accelerator injector resulting in a dose rate increase and fast treatment times.
    July 2012
  • Proton beams are delivered through the gantry and nozzle to isocenter at a dose rate sufficient for standard clinical practice, validating the compact system's technical design.
